Report: Kings Convert Hometown Hero Jordan Ford to Two-Way Deal

Ford finally signed a deal with Sacramento, and fans should be excited.

The Sacramento Kings continue to make roster changes, with multiple moves made in the past week. The free agency moves have created a domino effect, as the signing of C JaVale McGee led to the waiving of C Nerlens Noel and C Neemias Queta, which led to the signing of G Jordan Ford.

NBA Insider Chris Haynes of TNT and Bleacher Report reported (via @ChrisBHaynes / X) that Sacramento is converting Ford to a two-way contract just one day after signing him to a training camp deal.

Ford, 26, grew up in the Sacramento area and returned home when the Kings signed him in October 2022. Ford played 32 games for the Stockton Kings, Sacramento's G League affiliate, averaging 14.7 points, 4.8 assists, and 1.0 steals per game with impressive 49/40/80 shooting splits.

Ford joins G Keon Ellis and F Jalen Slawson as two-way players for the Kings, filling out all but one roster spot for Sacramento. Ford becomes the third point guard on the current 17-man roster, along with G De'Aaron Fox and G Davion Mitchell.

Kings fans have been expecting a third point guard to sign, but with Ford being converted to a two-way spot, another point guard could still be on the way to Sacramento.

Ford provides a versatile offensive game that will be valuable in Stockton and Sacramento. Ford being converted to a two-way is the best thing for his progression, as he can get reps in with the G League squad but is still available to be called up to Sacramento if needed.

Fans have expected Ford to ink a deal with Sacramento since his impressive NBA Summer League performance. The signing is a win-win-win situation for the organization, the fans, and Jordan Ford.
