Former Kings Legend DeMarcus Cousins Expected to Sign Deal in China
DeMarcus Cousins will be a name remembered not just by Sacramento Kings fans, but all fans of the NBA. The former Kings big man spent 7 seasons with the team before he was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2017, averaging 21.1 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game over that time. While Boogie has been out of the league since the 2021-22 NBA season, he has continued to play basketball - most recently in Puerto Rico.
The four-time All-Star is now expected to continue his career, but this time in China despite rumors of a return to the NBA, according to BasketNews.
The Kings legend is reportedly highly linked to an unnamed team in the Chinese Basketball Association, and a deal is imminent. Cousins was already in China for promotional events, which catalyzed the potential deal.
It's no secret that Cousins believes he is still among the best big men in the NBA, and the idea after signing to play with the Guaynabo Mets in Puerto Rico was to prove his talent and make an NBA return. However, it appears that a potential return will have to wait for the 33-year-old. It is not often that you see players return to the NBA after heading overseas, but nothing is impossible. Kings fans have taken notice of Boogie's NBA absence, with some even suggesting the Kings sign him to fill out the roster to be a backup to All-Star C Domantas Sabonis.
While Boogie may not be in the NBA, at least he will get to keep playing.
