Sarunas Jasikevicius Set To Join Kings Coaching Staff for Preseason
The NBA world is a revolving door, where former players return to the league with the hopes of becoming a coach. While not all coaches are ex-players and not all ex-players become coaches, it is fascinating to see a former NBA player take the reigns of a franchise.
Sarunas Jasikevicius, former Indiana Pacers and Golden State Warriors guard, will join the Sacramento Kings coaching staff for the 2023 NBA preseason, Rock Pakenas of 15min reports.
Jasikevicius, a Lithuanian basketball star, recently left FC Barcelona and is looking for more coaching opportunities. While he will likely not join the Kings' bench for the regular season, he is using this as an opportunity to learn and gather experience under a talented Sacramento coaching staff.
The Lithuanian connection between Jasikevicius and Kings All-Star C Domantas Sabonis will be beneficial for both parties and will likely make the stay in Sacramento easier for Jasikevicius.
It would be great for Jasikevicius to gain enough experience under Kings HC Mike Brown to where he can go on and compete for NBA openings. This coaching internship could result in a promising career move for Jasikevicius.
Start looking out for Jasikevicius, a promising coach out of Lithuania, to become the next former player to land an NBA coaching job.
