Knicks vs. Pelicans Prediction for Saturday, 10/28
Let’s dive right into our Knicks vs. Pelicans prediction, where we’ll happily back New York getting points. New Orleans is getting far more love to start this season thanks to the return of Zion Williamson, and while that is a massive boost, the Knicks truly have one of the most complete rosters in the NBA.
It’s fair to say that using last year’s results isn’t a perfect metric, but in the two games between these teams, the Knicks went 1-0-1 against the spread. While the Pelicans were without Zion, the Knicks weren’t 100% healthy either, which is why they were both -4 favorites and +8 underdogs in those two games.
With these squads facing off so early in the season, there are far fewer variables at play, such as injuries. If there is one to note, it is that New Orleans will be without Trey Murphy III. They were able to overcome that with a season-opening win, but the Memphis Grizzlies are obviously without Ja Morant to start the season.
With the scoring ability of Jalen Brunson and RJ Barrett paired with one of the best frontcourt duos in Julius Randle and Mitch Robinson, our best Knicks vs. Pelicans prediction is on New York +3.5 (-110 at FanDuel Sportsbook).
Knicks vs. Pelicans Free Picks & Player Props Featuring Immanuel Quickley & Julius Randle
One player we didn’t mention when closing out our Knicks vs. Pelicans prediction was Immanuel Quickley. After seeing Memphis’ Desmond Bane go off for 31 points against New Orleans in their season-opener, that’s providing us confidence in a big game from Quickley.
He always seems to find himself in the conversation for 6th Man of the Year, and rightfully so. Banes’ big game has us high on Quickley, as Bane went 5-for-10 from beyond the arc. Quickley doesn’t shoot nearly as many deep balls, but his 71.4% from three last season is too difficult to ignore. It should only take a few to help him go over 17.5 points (-115 at FanDuel Sportsbook).
We’re going to add to our Knicks vs. Pelicans player props by staying on the New York side of things. It’s not an approach we’d generally take, as we usually love backing Randle, but New Orleans provides a tough matchup. Even without Zion last season, they allowed the fifth-fewest opponent rebounds per game.
Zion grabbed seven boards in their season-opener, and of course, they were led by Jonas Valanciunas and his 12 rebounds. Randle’s rebound numbers also tend to decrease when Robinson is healthy, which certainly makes sense. So, it’s more that we’re relying on Robinson than we are knocking Randle.
Therefore, we’ll take Randle under 7.5 rebounds (+112 at FanDuel Sportsbook) as our second pick. Now that you’re armed with both of our Knicks vs. Pelicans player props, we want to share a great way to use them.
