BROOKLYN-The New York Liberty are poised to be busy at the WNBA Draft on Monday night at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Though the Liberty, the defending Commissioner's Cup champions and WNBA finalists, are far beyond the reach of Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and Kamilla Cardoso, there's plenty of opportunity in a deep rookie pool where they hold the penultimate pick of the opening round plus three others among the 36 names to be called.

1st Round (11th overall): Marquesha Davis, Mississippi

The Liberty opened their selections by choosing Ole Miss guard Marquesha Davis, who is expected to bolster the team's perimeter defense. Davis averaged 1.5 steals this season and enjoyed a major uptick in offense toward the end of her Rebel career, putting up double-figures in seven of her final eight games in Oxford. The 6-0 guard also wasn't afraid to throw her body into the paint, averaging just under five rebounds a game over the past two seasons after coming over from Arkansas.

2nd Round (17th overall, From Chicago): Esmery Martinez, Arizona

Martinez, another fifth-year interior threat, established herself as one of the Pac-12's fiercest defenders. Prior to her Tuscon entry, Martinez already made a name as a strong rebounder, as she hauled in over eight a game between stops with Arizona and West Virginia.

2nd Round (23rd overall): Jessika Carter, Mississippi State

A night of hype and height perhaps reached its peak upon the selection of Carter, a 6-5 center/forward who spent her whole college career as a Bulldog. Carter is perhaps a project but she'll no doubt make the fringe portions of the Liberty roster battle interesting with both 2023 third-rounder Okako Adika and international import Ana Tadic potentially in tow.

3rd Round (35th overall): Kaitlyn Davis, USC

Another interior project, Liberty general manager already sees Davis as more of a 2025 roster contender rather than anything immediate. Getting a call from the Liberty marks a bit of a homecoming for Davis, who parlayed her success at Columbia into a depth role in the Trojans' deep NCAA Tournament run. Between Manhattan and LA, Davis averaged 10.5 points and 7.1 rebounds while shooting over 48 percent from the field.
