This plus-one won't appear on a box score any time soon but undoubtedly stands as Breanna Stewart's most cherished.

The New York Liberty star and reigning WNBA MVP announced the arrival of her second child, a son named Theo (pronounced Tay-o), on Sunday, alongside her wife Marta Xargay.

Theo is Stewart and Xargay's second child, joining their two-year daughter Ruby. Stewart previously revealed Theo's name during her exit interview in Brooklyn on Oct. 20 shortly after the Liberty's season ended in WNBA Finals heartbreak against the Las Vegas Aces. She also stated that she would not immediately partake in overseas offseason affairs so as to stay home with a new family member but did not fully rule out the possibility of playing abroad.

According to an Instagram post from Stewart, Theo Josep Stewart Xargay was born on Wednesday, Oct. 25 and weighed in at 11 pounds and 12 ounces upon arrival.

"Welcome to the world little man," Stewart declared on Instagram, the caption attached to a picture of Ruby holding Theo. "Your mama was a trooper."

Stewart and Xargay have been married since 2021, having previously played together for Russian club Dynamo Kursk. Xargay also played two seasons with the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and won three EuroBasket gold medals with the Spanish national team in addition to an Olympic silver from Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

Throughout her 2023 WNBA MVP campaign, her first with the Liberty, Stewart frequently listed Xagary and Ruby as her chief inspirations. The pair frequently took in Stewart's games at Barclays Center and Ruby also lingered during postgame press conference in the latter stages of the season.

"When I think about being a role model to Ruby and to Theo, that's what definitely motivates me moving forward but also gives me joy and gives me perspective," Stewart said. "As upset as I am, and as (ticked) off, as disappointed, (asking) why didn't I take that final shot, why didn't I find a way to find a shot at the end, it's like I go home and see Ruby and I know that I'm helping create a change for her in whatever she wants."

"I'm just doing it for them and making sure that, no matter what, I continue to carry myself with confidence and keep my head high because, as you guys know, life isn't always easy. It isn't always winning. How are you going to do that when you're losing or when you do make a mistake? That's what I plan to show them."

Stewart, 29, averaged a career-best 23 points alongside 9.3 rebounds in her second MVP campaign. New York wasted little time in securing her immediate future: minutes before Stewart took the podium, general manager Jonathan Kolb said that she would "100 percent be cored," which offers a fully guaranteed supermax deal and limits that player's negotiation to her current team.
