NBA Trade Rumors: Clippers' Paul George to Knicks?

The New York Knicks need to add some shooting this offseason. Could Los Angeles Clippers guard Paul George suffice?
In this story:

The New York Knicks' taste of the postseason is slowly drifting away from them, and they will want to do anything in their power to get that sweetness back.

The most likely way to improve this Knicks roster is through the trade market, and New York has the ability to land a superstar. Bleacher Report suggests that superstar could be Los Angeles Clippers shooting guard Paul George.

"The Knicks, more than most teams, needn't fear George's 2024 player option," Bleacher Report writes. "It might benefit them. He may end up signing a longer-term deal at a lower average annual value than the $48.8 million he's owed in 2024-25."

The Clippers, four years removed from trading for George themselves, could be looking to re-shuffle the deck after a first-round exit and trading the eight-time All-Star would do exactly that. However, a trade package for George will be pricey, and it may not be worth it for the Knicks in the long run.

"A package built around some combo of Immanuel Quickley, R.J. Barrett, Obi Toppin, and a caps-lock DRAFT HAUL won't wow them," Bleacher Report writes. "But three-team trades exist for a reason, and the sheer breadth of assets the Knicks can unload will start conversations that otherwise wouldn't take place."

That being said, George is exactly what the Knicks need. He would be a strong complement to Jalen Brunson in the backcourt and offer New York another layer of complexity on offense. Adding George would make the Knicks that much more dangerous and complete in the long run, giving New York another shot to contend among the top dogs in the Eastern Conference next year.
