Knicks Move To 4-0 With OG Anunoby Following 121-105 Win Over Wizards
Many analysts and fans of the New York Knicks were left frustrated following the trade that sent Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett to Toronto for OG Anunoby.
Those people probably aren't all that upset now.
Behind an improved defense and a strong night from Julius Randle, the Knicks won their fourth straight contest with a 121-105 victory over the Washington Wizards in the nation's capital Saturday night.
New York, playing on a second night of a back-to-back, got off to a hot start early in the contest thanks to the exploits of Randle and Jalen Brunson. The Knickerbockers led a struggling Wizards team 34-19 after the first quarter and had a 20-point lead going into halftime.
Making the start even more impressive is that the Knicks blew out the Philadelphia 76ers (the current third-place team in the Eastern Conference) by 36 the night before.
On Saturday, Randle would finish with , while Brunson totaled .
Washington would make things interesting in the second half though. A 26-11 third-quarter run over the first seven minutes would trim the Knicks lead to five midway through the fourth, and keep the game interesting going into the final quarter.
It just wasn't enough for the six-win Wizards to complete the comeback, though.
Randle hit a clutch three midway to end the Washington run, and the Knicks quickly built their lead back up heading into the final quarter and coasted to their fourth straight win, and move into the sixth seed of the Eastern Conference early in January.
The Knicks return to action on Tuesday night when they host the Portland Trail Blazers (7:30 p.m. ET, MSG).
