Bojan Bogdanović: New York Knicks Trade Target Despite Injury?
Bojan Bogdanović has not made his season debut for the Detroit Pistons due to a calf strain but that might not stop the New York Knicks and other potential contenders from reaching out about a trade.
In a hypothetical scenario proposed by Bleacher Report, the Knicks would send Evan Fournier, Miles McBride, and a 2024 first-round pick to the Pistons in exchange for Bogdanović, a 34-year-old forward set to embark upon his second season in the Motor City.
While Bogdanović, standing at 6-7 and 226 lbs., likely isn't the star the Knicks have sought on the trade block, would fit in almost instantly thanks to the team's relative lack of size on the bench after trading Obi Toppin over the summer.
"The Knicks need a little more offensive juice," Bleacher Report's Zach Buckley writes. "They'll always be in the market for more shooting as long as RJ Barrett, Julius Randle, and Mitchell Robinson are in the front court."
Despite the team's improved shooting, the Knicks could stand to be more consistent from the three-point line. Last year's career-best season from Bogdanović saw him earn 21.6 points per game on just over 41 percent from deep. It was a silver lining for a Pistons group that won just 17 games and missed out on the top pick in the last draft after bad luck on lottery night.
Knicks Starting Lineup: Top 10 in NBA?
Bogdanović has been cleared for basketball activities but has yet to make his season debut. Ironically, it could come against the Knicks, who host his Pistons in the conclusion of a four-game homestand on Thursday night (7:30 p.m. ET, MSG).
