DeMar DeRozan: New York Knicks' Top Trade Target?
The New York Knicks have wanted to trade for a superstar for a while now and there's no shortage of options. A recent post from Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report, outlined some of those options, listing three potential trade targets for each NBA team.
Donovan Mitchell, the Cleveland Cavaliers' star shooter, tops New York's list, which is hardly a surprise considering the Knicks' frequent interest in the Empire State native. Also lingering on the list is Toronto forward OG Anunoby and Chicago guard DeMar DeRozan.
"If Mitchell isn't available—Cleveland has been disappointing but not a disaster—then New York could instead shift its focus first to OG Anunoby," Buckley writes. "(Anunoby is) an ideal fit for the three-and-D archetype, and then to DeMar DeRozan, a multifaceted offensive weapon with a proven ability to perform in the clutch."
Trading with Torotno feels like a stretch considering the legal battle currently staged between the Atlantic Division rivals but DeRozan could be an intriguing addition, even if the Knicks have a relatively crowded backcourt picture. DeRozan is currently the leading scorer for the reeling Bulls at 21.3 points a game and has posted consecutive All-Star appearances. As Chicago inches closer toward rebuilding, the Knicks' surplus of draft picks could be particularly intriguing.

New York (10-7) has recovered well enough from a rocky start but the current roster likely won't be enough to contend for a (spring) championship. Adding a perennial All-Star like DeRozan would certainly improve their chances of competing with the East's favorites
