Knicks Controversy: NBA Last Two Minute Report Reveals Pro-Pistons No-Calls

The controversy surrounding Monday's game between the New York Knicks and Detroit Pistons went far beyond the no-call in favor of Donte DiVincenzo.

Monty Williams and the Detroit Pistons fumed over the way their Monday night tilt with the New York Knicks ended, but the Last Two Minute report released by the NBA offered grievances for both sides.

The L2M report surrounding Monday's game, a 113-111 Knicks victory, officially uncovered three missed calls in the final minute. While the erroneous lack of foul call against Donte DiVincenzo for his role in setting up the Knicks' game-winning basket was noted, the report also declared that two other no-calls benefitted the Pistons.

The first missed call came with 58 seconds remaining in regulation and the Knicks holding a one-point lead: officials noted that Jalen Duren should've been called for a loose ball foul for holding the wrist of Isaiah Hartenstein while contesting a rebound.

Monday's crew also missed a defensive three-second violation that should've been charged to Duren, who was declared to be "in the paint for longer than three seconds without imminently actively guarding an opponent."

Had the latter infraction been called, DiVincenzo's takedown of Ausar Thompson that indirectly set up Josh Hart's game-winning two-pointer and incurred the wrath of the Pistons could've been avoided entirely. In its potential place, the Knicks would've gotten a one-shot technical free throw (which could've tied the game) with 25 seconds left as well as retained possession.

Williams: 'Worst Call' Leads to Knicks' Victory over Pistons

Official acknowledgment of the DiVincenzo non-call should do little to appease the Pistons, who dropped their sixth in a row on Monday night. Williams, the former Knicks-turned-Motor City head coach, labeled the lack of whistle as "an abomination" in his postgame comments.
