Donte DiVincenzo Knicks Jersey Lands a Familiar Number

Donte DiVincenzo will wear a familiar numeral when he takes the floor for the New York Knicks alongside college teammates Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart.

Upon making the signing of former Golden State Warriors guard Donte DiVincenzo official over the weekend, the New York Knicks also revealed that his jersey will retain the No. 0 he wore in the Bay Area.

The Knicks made the reveal through doctored photos as well as a highlight reel of DiVincenzo's NBA career to date, which has also taken him through Milwaukee and Sacramento.

While many perhaps would've loved to see DiVincenzo wear No. 10 for the first time since college, as his arrival creates a reunion with fellow Villanova University alumni Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart. But that number, of course, holds a special place in Knicks lore as belonging to franchise legend Walt "Clyde" Frazier.

Previous metropolitan wearers of No. 0, which DiVincenzo also wore in Milwaukee and Sacramento, include Larry Hughes, Cam Reddish, and Trevor Keels, the latter two sharing it last season.

DiVincenzo now joins the Knicks on a four-year, $50 million contract after averaging 9.4 points and 4.5 rebounds in a single season with the Warriors. He's set to serve as a bench spark in New York, similar to the way his teammate Hart energized the team in the latter stages of last season after coming over from Portland at the trade deadline. A winner of two national titles at Villanova (winning the 2018 Final Four's Most Outstanding Player in the latter) and an NBA title with Milwaukee in 2021, DiVincenzo also set a career-best with a 39.7 percent success rate from three-point range.

"We are excited to add Donte to the Knicks family and view him as a perfect fit to the culture we continue to establish,” Knicks president Leon Rose said in a statement. “Winning is in his DNA, and he will provide us with versatility, three-point shooting, and defensive tenacity.”
