Sixth Lords! Knicks Best Boston, Move Up in Standings

The New York Knicks found bliss by besting the Boston Celtics for their sixth win in a row.
In this story:

The NBA's arguable finest was no match for its arguable hottest on Monday night at Madison Square Garden.

Mitchell Robinson's third consecutive double-double since returning from both the All-Star break and a finger injury defined the Knicks' evening at Madison Square Garden, which produced a 109-94 victory over the NBA-leading Boston Celtics. Robinson had 10 points and 13 rebounds while Julius Randle and Immanuel Quickley paced the Knicks' scoring efforts with 23 each.

With the win, the Knicks (36-27) won their sixth in a row and moved past the idle Brooklyn Nets for the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference. The victory was their first double-figure victory over Boston at MSG since January 2014. With the defensive efforts of Robinson (two blocks and steals each) and Josh Hart (12 points, two steals) on pure display, the Knicks held Boston (44-18) to under 100 points for the first time since Feb. 3.

Quickley's fellow Sixth Man of the Year candidate Malcolm Brogdon led the Celtics with 23 points, forced to lead the way with Jaylen Brown (personal reasons) out and Jayson Tatum (two technical fouls) ejected in the final act. New York will have a chance to win a four-game set against the Celtics for the first time since 2012-13 next Sunday night when the rivals wrap their yearly set in Beantown.

In the meantime, the Knicks take on the aforementioned Nets on Wednesday night at MSG (7:30 p.m. ET, MSG).
