Knicks' Jalen Brunson ACTIVE for Saturday vs Clippers
This Wildcat is back on the prowl.
The New York Knicks announced that point guard Jalen Brunson will be available for their Saturday night showdown against the Los Angeles Clippers (7 p.m. ET, MSG). Brunson will make his return after missing Thursday's win over the Miami Heat with an illness.
While the Knicks got by on Thursday, thanks primarily to a sterling scoring effort from RJ Barrett, there's no doubt they'll be relieved to have Brunson back in the lineup. The first-year Knick is one of the most talked-up absences on the 2023 NBA All-Star Game roster, averaging career bests in the debut year of a four-year, $104 million contract bestowed to him over the summer after four seasons with the Dallas Mavericks.
Immanuel Quickley took over Brunson's duties as the primary point guard and had eight points and six rebounds in one of the Knicks' biggest victories of the season. Sans Brunson, New York (28-25) was able to eke out a 106-104 victory against a South Beach group that they're chasing for the sixth and final automatic playoff seed in the Eastern Conference. Barrett had 30 in the win while Julius Randle put 23 points and 10 rebounds.
The Heat (29-24) are one game ahead entering Saturday night action which places them in Milwaukee.
