Four Knicks Make Bleacher Report's Top 100 Players
Four New York Knicks players were named to Bleacher Report's list of top 100 players heading into the 2023-24 NBA season.
Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle, RJ Barrett, and Josh Hart all made the list with Brunson coming in as the highest New Yorker at 36th. Randle was 19 spots behind him in 55th while Barrett and Hart respectively rounded things out at 91st and 99th, respectively.
New York is coming off of a 47-win season and its first playoff series victory since 2013. Randle led the way for the Knicks with averages of 25.1 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 4.1 assists en route to his second All-Star Game invite.
Brunson also had the best season of his career in his first year in New York on a $104 million contract, averaging 24 points, 6.2 assists, and 3.5 RPG. He was previously with the Dallas Mavericks where he spent the first four years of his career after they drafted him in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft out of Villanova.
"The 26-year-old was exactly what New York needed," Brunson's blurb, penned by Greg Swartz, reads. "Brunson's scoring, playmaking, and lack of turnovers carried the Knicks to the best offense in franchise history (117.8 rating)."
Only two Knicks appeared on last year's Top 100 and each moved up the ranks this time around: Randle was 73rd while Brunson was 61st.
With those promotions in mind, there are high expectations this season in New York after last year's team lost in the Eastern Conference semifinals to the Miami Heat in six games. The franchise is seemingly headed in the right direction, making the playoffs in two of the last three seasons.
