Joel Embiid New Team Odds: Are Knicks the Favorites?

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid re-spun his own rumor mill with comments at UNINTERRUPTED Film Festival, re-opening gossip of a trade to the New York Knicks.
In this story:

The New York Knicks have made it a habit to add Philadelphia basketball stars to their roster. Villanova alumni Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart have fulfilled expectations and then some, while there are high hopes for Donte DiVincenzo.

This one, however, would undoubtedly be the most impactful.

Newly-minted NBA MVP and current Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid rebooted his own rumor mill at the inaugural UNINTERRUPTED Film Festival with a quote that will give any fan of Quaker City basketball fan pause.

“I just want to win a championship, whatever it takes. I don’t know where that’s going to be," Embiid told host Maverick Carter. "Whether it’s in Philly or anywhere else. I just want to have a chance to accomplish that. I want to see what it feels like to win that first one and then you can think about the next one. It’s not easy. It takes more than one or two or three guys.”

Embiid has downplayed the comments but speculation on his future has entered a new cycle. The Knicks have long been interested in landing Embiid and are well stocked on present and future assets should Philadelphia opt for a full-on teardown.

Should Embiid move on, early fortune favors the Knicks: opening odds from BetOnline gave the Knicks the top chances to land Embiid if he leaves Philadelphia.

At 2-1/+200, the Knicks beat out their cross-borough rivals, the Brooklyn Nets (5-2/+250), while the Dallas Mavericks (7-2/+350) are the top-ranked Western Conference team and round out the top three.

Acquiring Embiid would undoubtedly be a costly endeavor but the Knicks have a good number of draft assets piled up and young immediate contributors who have proven worthy of NBA longevity but whose metropolitan futures could be financially hindered in pursuit of a championship.
