'Hit my Phone, Bro!': Knicks' Josh Hart Goes After Nets' Mikal Bridges
Three Wildcats aren't enough for Josh Hart.
Shortly after news of Donte DiVincenzo's incoming arrival to the New York Knicks broke, Hart wasted no time in trying to get the team to up its Villanova University quota. reaching out to current Brooklyn Nets star Mikal Bridges on Twitter. Upon his arrival, DiVincenzo became the third former Wildcat to join the Knicks, joining Hart and Jalen Brunson.
"Hit my phone bro," Hart tells Bridges, tagging his account. Bridges is another Villanova champion and a major part of the Wildcats' success throughout the prior decade, featuring runs that often culminated in Big East Men's Basketball Tournament trophy hoists at Madison Square Garden.
The controversy around Twitter's rate limits has been no obstacle for Hart, who was trying to recruit another former teammate on the move, Damian Lillard, earlier in the day. Like Brunson, Bridges was part of both of Villanova's national title runs during the Jay Wright era, topping North Carolina in 2016 and Michigan two years later. Hart opted to extend his own New York stay when he exercised a $12.9 million player option with the team last week.
Persistent as Hart may be, don't expect Bridges to switch boroughs: the MVP of the 2018 Big East Tournament at MSG is poised to be one of the main attractions of the new-look Nets after they brought him via a deadline deal with the Phoenix Suns. Last season was Bridges first on a four-year, $90.9 million extension bestowed by the Suns in Oct. 2021.
