Who is Brodie? Dog Steals Show at New York Knicks-Los Angeles Lakers Game
Some came for Brunson. They stayed for Brodie.
Cameras assembled at Crypto.com Arena for Monday's showdown between the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers couldn't pull away from Brodie the Goldendoodle, a service dog and canine social media influencer seated courtside. Brodie and a sellout crowd of 18,997 (which also included his seat neighbors Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick) watched the Knicks take down the Lakers 114-109 behind a 27-point, 14-rebound double-double for Julius Randle.
While the Knicks (15-11) prevailed, Brodie was the undoubted winner of Monday's game, stealing the show and delighting the purple-and-yellow-clad crowd with his antics. Clad in a Lakers jersey repping Austin Reaves, Brodie's magnum opus came when he was bestowed the "Fan of the Game" award earned via dance-off.
The glory took a bit of a toll on Brodie, who was seen resting under his seat during the fourth quarter, one that saw Jalen Brunson earn 11 of his Knicks-best 29 points en route to victory.
Brodie has amassed a social media following ranking in the millions, a multitude that includes Josh Hart. The Knicks reserve happily greeted Brodie and his owner Cliff Brush during pregame warmups, labeling himself a "big fan" in an exchange caught by New York Basketball on X.
Brush, based in Florida, told SWNS that he suffers from a condition from an "autoimmune condition called lichen planus" and that Brodie has lived up to his occupation as a service dog and then some.
“It’s when the immune system treats the skin as a foreign body and attacks it. We found that stress is a big factor but ever since I’ve had Brodie, I don’t have flare-ups,” Brush, who began Brodie's account in 2020, told SWNS (h/t Patrick Reilly of the New York Post). "I’m very fortunate he had such a great disposition from birth. I don’t even take credit for it.”

In addition to his Monday night outing with the Lakers, Brodie's Instagram account (featuring over a million followers) features encounters with the Miami Heat, Miami Marlins, and numerous charities.
Much to the disappointment of Hart, and likely many others, Brodie probably won't return to the sidelines on Wednesday, when the Knicks wrap up a five-game road trip against the Brooklyn Nets (7:30 p.m. ET, MSG).
