LISTEN: All Knicks Talks Knicks-Cavaliers and NY Sports Playoffs
Happy holidays, New York City.
Saturday marks the start of what's sure to be either one of the most euphoric or heartbreaking springs and summers in recent metropolitan memory. All five of the area's NBA and NHL teams have reached their respective postseasons and the former's reps will tip off their championship quests over the weekend.
The action opens on Saturday with the New York Knicks playing in the evening against the Cleveland Cavaliers (6 p.m. ET, ESPN) while the sixth-seeded Brooklyn Nets face an Atlantic Division rival in the Philadelphia 76ers to open the four-game slate (1 p.m. ET, ESPN). Elsewhere, a New York civil war begins on the ice on Tuesday between the Knicks' Madison Square Garden roommates, the Rangers, and the New Jersey Devils, which comes a day after the New York Islanders open against the Carolina Hurricanes.
In anticipation of the coming battles, All Knicks editor/contributor Geoff Magliocchetti appeared on "The Drive with Charlie and Dan" on WTMM-FM, the Albany, NY affiliate of ESPN Radio, to discuss the sports serendipity, particularly the impending showdown with Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
