Julius Randle: OG Anunoby is Knicks' 'Perfect Piece'
It has apparently taken two games for OG Anunoby to make himself at home in New York.
The New York Knicks are perfect in two games with the former Toronto Raptor in the lineup, topping Minnesota on Monday before a win over Chicago two nights later. Julius Randle, one of the team's continued headliners was quick to laud the perfect Anunoby has found in New York after the former victory over the Timberwolves, which saw Anunoby earn 17 points and six rebounds before fouling out.
"He seems like a perfect piece that complements our team very well," Randle said via SNY. "He does a lot of timely things out there and it was big for us tonight to get that win."
Anunoby was traded from the Toronto Raptors to New York along with Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn in exchange for Immanuel Quickley, RJ Barrett, and a 2024 second-round pick previously acquired from Detroit. After the win over the Western Conference-leading Timberwolves, Anunoby had a more muted prescience but nonetheless put up 11 points and eight rebounds in the 116-100 win. New York (19-15) was also a plus-35 when he was on the floor.
While Randle understands the positive impact that Anunoby's addition brings to New York's roster, he still had to say goodbye to two of his longtime teammates in Barrett and Quickley.
"I was talking to the guys earlier and I've played against it seems like everybody in this league, unless it's a rookie or something except RJ and Quick," Randle said. "It'll be different playing against those guys but it's a part of the business."
