Joel Embiid Removes 76ers From Social Media Bio; Knicks Trade Coming?

The New York Knicks could be one step closer to a Joel Embiid trade request from the Philadelphia 76ers.
In this story:

The Philadelphia 76ers' house of cards could soon come tumbling down.

On the same day James Harden called president of basketball operations Daryl Morey a "liar" in front of his basketball camp in China, MVP Joel Embiid has undergone a social media renovation.

Normally this is something not worth batting an eye over. But given how savvy Embiid is about social media, perhaps this is a sign that he may no longer want to call Philadelphia home. If he was looking for a change of scenery, moving to Manhattan and joining the New York Knicks may not be that bad of an idea for him, especially with the Knicks locking up talents like Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart over the next few seasons.

"While the Knicks have assembled a rock-solid squad, they still seem a superstar short of championship contention," Bleacher Report's Zach Buckley writes when discussing trades that would "blow up" next season. "Embiid, the reigning MVP and back-to-back scoring champ, scratches that itch as well (or better) than any remotely realistically available trade target."

The Knicks could build an enticing package that would be difficult for other teams to beat, especially if Embiid preferred a trade to New York. Embiid, 29, would certainly boost the Knicks' chances to contend for a championship. This year's MVP averaged 33.1 points and 10.2 rebounds per game en route to the title, leading the Sixers to the second round of the playoffs. Yet another defeat in the conference semifinal round and Embiid's comments that he'd like to win a championship "whether it's in Philly or anywhere else" only intensified the trade rumors.

With this latest development, the rumors could move up one more notch.
