Per NBA insider Tommy Beer, the New York Knicks will pick up the $1.8 million team option on third-year man Miles McBride.

Affectionately referred to as "Deuce," McBride has been lauded for his defense since arriving from West Virginia in a draft day trade with Oklahoma City in 2021. Last season saw McBride partake in 64 games (two starts) and averaged 3.5 points off the bench. His most notable offense output came in a March win over Portland, which saw him tally 18 points.

"(He) adds a lot,” teammate Immanuel Quickley has said of McBride's game. “Especially defensively. You can see him getting out in passing lanes, (creating) steals. You know he can do that. He’s (also) added a lot to his game offensively.”

Of note, the Knicks posted a 12-4 record when McBride partook in at least 15 minutes last season.

McBride's affordable option isn't the only move the Knicks have looming on Thursday: the team also awaits Josh Hart's decision on a $12.9 million player option after mutually agreeing to extend the deadline on such a decision over the weekend.
