Should New York Knicks Seek Immanuel Quickley Trade?
Immanuel Quickley continues to stand as one of the NBA's most reliable sixth men in his fourth season with the New York Knicks. Through eight games, Quickley has averaged 15.1 points on over 47 percent from the field, both of which would be new career-highs in a full season.
But Quickley and the Knicks were unable to reach an agreement on a long-term extension and Qhickley will become a restricted free agent at the end of the season. With Quickley's value at an all-time high and the point guard potentially on his way out after this season, could the Knicks dangle his name in a potential trade?
The most likely trade targets for the Knicks seem to be Karl-Anthony Towns, Joel Embiid, or OG Anunoby. With a player as valuable as Quickley potentially involved, those rumors could very well become a reality.
Ultimately, the Knicks could decide to keep Quickley, as the spark he brings off the bench has helped them win. Quickley's value was nationally recognized at the end of last season when he finished in the runner-up spot in the most Sixth Man of the Year vote behind Malcolm Brogdon, then of Boston.
With how much young stars have been paid as of late, the price for paying the young guard could be an expensive one. Prior reports, for example, hinted that Quickley sought nine figures during the recent negotiations. That price, however, could be well worth it considering what he has brought on the floor.
As it stands, Quickley is making it tough for the Knicks (4-4) to part ways with him. He and the rest of the Knicks will be back in action on Sunday afternoon when LaMelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets come to visit Madison Square Garden (12 p.m. ET, MSG).
