Brown, Keels Stifle Celtics, Knicks Get 2nd Summer League Win
The New York Knicks' Summer League prospects had a lot to do if they wanted to catch up to Sabrina Ionescu's own metropolitan showcase from the outside on Friday in Las Vegas.
That certainly didn't stop them from trying.
Charlie Brown Jr. and Trevor Keels led the way for the Knicks' summer squad, besting that of the Boston Celtics by a 97-89 final at Cox Pavillion. The Knicks' high-scoring duo united for 47 points in the win, New York's second straight in Vegas after dropping its first pair.
Brown led the way with 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting, half of his sunk shots coming from deep while adding seven rebounds and five assists. Keels, the Knicks' lone pick from the 2022 draft, had 20 points (including four triples) on 7-of-10 attempts.
Elsewhere in the New York effort, Isaiah Roby sank 6-of-9 tries en route to a 17-point evening while Dmytro Skapintsev put up five blocks and rebounds each in 22 minutes off the bench.
New York (2-2) led by as much as 23 on Friday, withstanding several runs from a Celtics group that put six in double-figures. Dalano Banton led the way for Boston (1-3) with 18 points while coming one rebound short of a double-double.
While it's unlikely that the Knicks will be invited back to the Summer League title game, they and the rest of their NBA brethren will have one more game in Sin City against an opponent and on a date to be determined.
