Knicks Trade for Joel Embiid Revealed as Oddsmakers Favorite

Joel Embiid could request a trade soon, and if he does, the New York Knicks are considered the favorite to be his next destination.

The New York Knicks are champing at the bit for another star, and the wise guys say they might be able to snag the league's Most Valuable Player.

According to BetOnline.ag, the Knicks are considered the betting favorites at +200 to land reigning MVP Joel Embiid should he request a trade from the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Knicks could build an enticing package that would be difficult for other teams to beat, especially if Embiid preferred a trade to New York.

Embiid, 29, would certainly boost the Knicks' chances to contend for a championship. This year's MVP averaged 33.1 points and 10.2 rebounds per game en route to the title, leading the Sixers to the second round of the playoffs. Yet another defeat in the conference semifinal round and Embiid's comments that he'd like to win a championship "whether it's in Philly or anywhere else" only intensified the trade rumors.

Embiid also has a strong relationship with Knicks president Leon Rose, who attended the All-Star's wedding earlier this summer.

Before becoming the Knicks president in 2020, Rose was a prominent agent to several NBA stars, including Embiid. Part of the reason why the Knicks hired Rose was his relationships with players in the NBA to help in free agency and other transactions.

The first major step in order for all of this to happen is Embiid needs to request a trade. While there's reason for us to speculate why he wouldn't want to play in Philadelphia anymore, there's no chance he is traded to New York until this happens.
