Lakers News: Anthony Davis Honored LeBron James With Shoes in Game Against Milwaukee Bucks

In this story:

The Los Angeles Lakers season has been filled with many ups and downs, but the team has started to play more consistently of late. They are currently on a six-man road trip but have gone 4-1 so far, with one game looming later tonight against the Washington Wizards.

Their biggest win of the trip came against the Milwaukee Bucks, as Los Angeles went into Fiserv Forum to grab the win without the services of star LeBron James. Without James on the floor, co-star Anthony Davis had to step up to provide the win for the team.

In the game, Davis honored his teammate, wearing a pair of Zoom Soldier 1 retro shoes that were relaunched in 2018 to celebrate James. James wore these sneakers in the 2007 Eastern Conference Finals against the Detroit Pistons when he scored 25 straight points.

Davis wore them as an ode to his co-star and dominated on the court himself. He scored 34 points, grabbed 23 rebounds and blocked four shots to get the win. This included a game-saving block on Bucks' star Damian Lillard at the end of the first overtime to give Los Angeles an opportunity to win the game.

Davis showed out in the shoes, giving one of his best performances of the season. The win over the Bucks was one of the biggest for the Lakers, helping them set the tone for their long road trip. Davis played 52 minutes in the win over Milwaukee, the most by a member of the Lakers since 2012 when Kobe Bryant was on the squad.
