Lakers Injury Report: Anthony Davis Departs LA-Chicago Game After Rolling Ankle
Los Angeles Lakers star center Anthony Davis had to leave LA's ongoing road contest against the Chicago Bulls after rolling his ankle on an awkward landing on Bulls point guard Coby White's hand beneath the basket at the 4:17 mark of the game's third quarter.
The Lakers currently trail Chicago 84-75 late into the third frame.
At present, Davis has notched 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the field and 4-of-7 shooting from deep, 12 rebounds, three assists, two steals and a steal to his credit in 26:55.
It's not like a scary mid-game injury is fresh terrain for the oft-hurt superstar.
My old boss at Blog-A-Bull, your friendly Bulls Blogger, hilariously calls the Chicago native Anthony "Day-To-Day" Davis. The 6'10" big man has missed a ton of time across the last few seasons, really since LA won it all in 2020, but he has been relatively healthy this season.
Honestly, it feels like maybe half the time The Brow lands he hurts himself. But this year at least, the Kentucky product has generally been able lumber through whatever the ailment is. And he was a game-time decision even today with what was listed as a left ankle sprain/bone bruise. To his credit, the 30-year-old has only missed one game this year with an injury, a snoozer against the slumping San Antonio Spurs a week ago today.
This year, while angling to make his first All-Star team in three seasons, Davis is averaging 24.2 points on .549/.368/820 shooting splits (although he's barely taking any threes), 12.6 rebounds and three assists a night. Not too shabby for "Day-To-Day" Davis. But obviously any extended absence could preclude such an appearance.
