Lakers Injury Report: Several LA Starters Questionable For Spurs Rematch Friday
All five of your Los Angeles Lakers' standard starters may sit out tonight, and for good reason.
They'll be facing off against one of the NBA's true JV squads, the 3-20 San Antonio Spurs, currently in the midst of a hilariously embarrassing 18-game losing streak.
Per Jovan Buha of The Athletic, starting small forward Cam Reddish and starting point guard D'Angelo Russell are the latest two starters to see their game statuses demoted to questionable ahead of tonight's action. Reddish is reportedly dealing with a sore right knee, while D-Lo's listed ailment is a migraine.
Small forward LeBron James sat out Wednesday night, the second evening of a back-to-back pair of contests, with a left calf contusion. The 38-year-old remains questionable for tonight. Anthony Davis, who scored 37 points and grabbed 10 boards against San Antonio on Wednesday, is questionable as he struggles with his lingering left adductor/hip spasm issues. Starting shooting guard Taurean Prince is also questionable.
Reserve guard Gabe Vincent is the only rotation Laker who's officially been ruled out of the evening's festivities. He's played in just four contests thus far this year. Per the league's latest injury report, reserve power forward Jarred Vanderbilt (low back spasm) is probable to play, after sitting out LA's first meeting of the season against the Spurs. Rookies Jalen Hood-Schifino and Max Christie are on the shelf tonight, too, but neither plays meaningful minutes.
The 15-10 Lakers could probably still eke out a victory even with three starters plus Vincent unavailable against this sorry Spurs squad. But if six of their top eight players (everyone aside from Austin Reaves and Vanderbilt) play hooky, San Antonio should be able to actually win a game for the first time since November 2nd.
