Lakers Injury Report: Sick Los Angeles Role Player On Mend
Los Angeles Lakers rookie forward Maxwell Lewis, who has been sidelined with a non-COVID-19 illness of late, has seen his status upgraded to probable ahead of tomorrow's matchup against the Golden State Warriors, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports.
After LA traded for his draft rights with the No. 40 pick out of Pepperdine, the 6'7" small forward has yet to truly crack Darvin Ham's rotation for the 23-23 Lakers. Across 15 contests, he's mostly played mop-up minutes, averaging just 4.1 minutes a night.
He's made a bit of a buzz for Los Angeles' NBA G League affiliate franchise in El Segundo, the South Bay Lakers. Across 11 games with South Bay this year, Lewis is averaging 13.5 points on .432/.349/.875 shooting splits, 4.5 rebounds, 0.8 blocks, 0.8 steals and 0.7 dimes.
Lewis, 21, has intriguing size for his position, but is still a bit raw at this stage.
Meanwhile, two other Lakers with long-term injuries will remain on the shelf against the Dubs. Unfortunately for Los Angeles, these two are actually part of the club's rotation. Small forward Cam Reddish will miss the next two weeks of action with a sprained right ankle, while backup point guard Gabe Vincent continues to recuperate from a left knee effusion surgery. All-Stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis are questionable to play.
