2020 Lakers Champ Believes That LA Club Could Beat Three Subsequent Title Teams

Does he have a point?

In sports, there is always debate about how championship teams could compare against one another. It doesn’t matter which sport or from which era, it’s a topic that fans love to talk about. It bring on fun hypotheticals and creates discussion.

The NBA is no different as fans love to pit different era against one another with their contrasting styles of play. But even in recent seasons, comparing teams titles comes into play.

Most recently we have seen comparisons for the last few seasons of NBA championships spark up and how they would fair against each other. The teams in question are the 2020 Los Angeles Lakers, 2021 Milwaukee Bucks, 2022 Golden State Warriors and the most recent champion, the 2023 Denver Nuggets.

The parity in the NBA is at an all-time high but looking at these teams together is interesting. How would they fare against one another if we were able to see it?

Well, one fan gave their opinion on the matter, saying that the 2020 Lakers squad would rise above the rest. Former Laker and member of the 2020 championship squad, Kyle Kumza, chimed into give his opinion as well.

Kuzma seems to believe that the Lakers would indeed take down the others and he may be right. People are quick to forget the 2020 Lakers because of everything going on. They did win the title in the bubble but the Lakers were dominant that season.

Led by a healthy LeBron James and Anthony Davis, LA had a superior defense to every other team on this list. They were a lock down defending team that could give the others many issues. The Lakers even took down a younger version of the 2023 Nuggets back in 2020 when they met in the Western Conference Finals.

Right before everything shut down because of Covid, the Lakers were hitting their stride. They had just taken down the Bucks and Los Angeles Clippers in back-to-back games and were looking like the best team in the NBA.

They were the number one seed in the Western Conference for the majority of the year so it's a little odd why people discredit them. The team had just enough shooting on it to win games and their bench was strong enough to take over games when on the floor.

Obviously we will never know who would win a mini-tournament between these four teams but I'd bet my money on the Lakers. None of the teams here could matchup against a James-Davis led frontcourt from back in 2020 and that is all there is to know.
