In this story:

Your Los Angeles Lakers lost their season opener against the defending champions the Denver Nuggets with a final score of 119-107.

Nikola Jokic filled the stat sheet scoring 29 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists.

One big man that did not show up, especially in the second half was Lakers center, Anthony Davis, and stepping up is something he needs to do with Lebron James' minutes limit.

Davis was having a very good game against a tough matchup in Nikola Jokic, in the first half Davis had 17 points on 6-11 shooting on the floor, he was also controlling the boards in a fair split between the former MVP Jokic.

In the second half, however, Davis disappeared not scoring a single and going 0-6 in the second half.

With Lebron James on a minute limit to help his odds of staying healthier, especially in a long season including playoffs, Davis along with players like D' Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves will need to step up when James is not on the court.

The role players coming off the bench like Rui Hachimura and Gabe Vincent also need to step up only shooting 6-18 combined and also pairing up for a +/- of -25 when they are on the court.

This is the first game of the season and there will be many more but Davis will need to provide scoring in all four quarters in this Lakers team wants to be successful in the regular season, especially against teams they may very well play in the playoffs.
