Lakers News: Anthony Davis Shoulders Blame For Knicks Defeat
Last night, your Los Angeles Lakers fell 112-108 to the New York Knicks, botching a fairly winnable contest with some frustrating late play.
Star center Anthony Davis accepted culpability for the defeat, blaming his offense.
Davis finished with 17 points on 8-of-18 shooting from the floor, a whopping 16 rebounds, two steals, and a block. Those are solid numbers for most players, but the underwhelming scoring in particular appeared to frustrate the eight-time All-Star. Davis said as much in his postgame remarks while changing in the team locker room.
"I played terrible. Couldn't find a shot. Free throws, layups, everything," Davis said, putting the onus for the loss on himself."The guys did their job," Davis said. "I didn't do my job tonight."
"I think I had a good presence defensively, offensively I wasn't there," Davis continued. "Free throws, layups, the handle, the shots, just everything offensively. The rest of the guys played well tonight."
Despite his second straight night of scoring less than 20 points, Davis was still reportedly under consideration to be named a Western Conference Player Of The Week for his three performances during the week that ran from March 6th through March 12th. AD posted averages of 18.3 points on .548/.333/571 shooting splits, 15.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.3 blocks per night.
