Lakers News: Anthony Davis Shrugs Off Miserable Game 2 Performance
During your Los Angeles Lakers' unfortunate 127-100 Game 2 loss against the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center Thursday, LA big man Anthony Davis had a miserable followup to a stellar Game 1 series start.
The 6'10" star center scored just 11 points and pulled down just seven rebounds in a quiet night against Golden State, far cries from his 30-point, 23-rebound Game 1.
In a joint postgame presser with costar LeBron James, Davis played down the impact Warriors power forward Draymond Green had upon being switched to a new role as his primary defender in Game 2, with Looney limited to logging just over 11 minutes off bench due to an illness. JaMychal Green was elevated to a starting frontcourt role alongside Draymond Green.
"I took all the same shots I took in Game 1, I just missed them," Davis claimed. "Elbow jumpers, pocket passes to the floater. Same exact looks. ...Like 'Bron said they made adjustments, shot the ball extremely well from three. So we'll be better, I'll be better making those shots. Get back home on our home floor [for Game 3] and try to take care of business."
This isn't quite true. Davis didn't see the ball nearly as much as he did in Game 1, and he was frequently played out of rebounding position by Green.
