Lakers News: Anthony Davis Takes Responsibility For ‘Ruining’ Dennis Schröder’s Game-Winner
During your Los Angeles Lakers' hard-fought 108-102 overtime play-in game victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves last night, LA's second-half comeback effort to secure the win seemed to be all sown up thanks to a Dennis Schröder corner three-point make off a LeBron James drive-and-dish with 1.3 seconds remaining in regulation...
...Until Los Angeles center Anthony Davis fouled Minnesota point guard Mike Conley on a three-point corner attempt of his own with 0.1 seconds remaining on the other end.
Though LA did claim the win ultimately in the overtime frame after Conley tied things up, Davis fittingly received quite a razzing from his teammates after the game, during their postgame remarks to TNT.
"It's unfortunate that AD had a brain fart and messed his game-winner up," James joked, albeit half-seriously.
Davis, who had been talking to Spectrum SportsNet's Mike Trudell in a separate postgame conversation nearby, overheard the smack talk and hopped into the fray.
"I messed his game-winner up I apologize," Davis joked. "I definitely apologize."
A win is a win, at the end of the day, and that's what matters. But it sure wasn't pretty.
Will the Lakers learn from their sloppy play during their playoff series against the Memphis Grizzlies, which kicks off on Sunday? Time will tell, but our fingers are certainly crossed.
