Lakers News: Anthony Davis Unpacks How LA Survived Must-Win Magic Game
Los Angeles Lakers center Anthony Davis battled through another off shooting night to help LA secure an essential victory against an active and young Orlando Magic club. He finished with 15 points on 6-of-15 shooting, 11 rebounds and four blocks.
Backup shooting guard Austin Reaves, a restricted free agent after this season, led the way for LA, scoring 35 points in just over 30 minutes of action.
After the bout, AD spoke with gathered reporters at his Crypto.com Arena locker.
“Their team, obviously, isn't playing for anything," Davis acknowledged. "They play free, [with] energy. They're a really tough team to beat, they can hurt you. So Austin obviously got going. Our second unit came in [and] got going... but we knew this was a must-win for us and we went through whatever we could to secure this victory,” Davis noted.
LA is currently 35-37 on the season and has 10 games left to nab a play-in tournament spot. At present, the Lakers occupy the West's 11th seed, after a Utah Jazz win (without All-Star forward Lauri Markannen) last night moved Utah to a 35-36 record and the 10th seed.
