Lakers News: Austin Reaves Ends First Half Of Team USA's Warm-Up Vs Spain With Dunk
Fresh off a new three-year, $54 million contract extension, Los Angeles Lakers starting shooting guard Austin Reaves is already making a big impact off the bench for this year's Team USA squad during its exhibition "warm-up" games ahead of the FIBA World Cup later this month.
To wit, in today's ongoing matchup against an NBA pro-laden Team Spain (somehow the top seed in the FIBA tournament bracket ahead of Team USA, which is packed with NBA pros, including several All-Stars), Reaves closed out the half with an aggressive dunk off a steal and pass from Indiana Pacers All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton.Β
Check out the highlight below.
That marked Haliburton's seventh assist in just the first half, as he helped power Team USA to a double-digit advantage over Team Spain heading into the break.
Reaves enjoyed a breakout run to close the season following LA's flurry of moves heading into the February 9th NBA trade deadline. After that point, the 6'5" wing out of Oklahoma averaged 16.5 points on .574/.442/.847 shooting splits, 5.1 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 0.5 steals a night. He turned in similar numbers across 16 playoff bouts, notching averages of 16.9 points on a .464/.443/.895 slash line, 4.6 dimes, 4.4 boards, and 0.6 swipes per.
