Lakers Injury Report: Banged-Up LA Hosts Banged-Up Phoenix As Postseason Looms
Can your 35-37 Los Angeles Lakers without All-Star small forward LeBron James steal a win from the 38-33 Phoenix Suns without All-Star power forward Kevin Durant or starting center Deandre Ayton?
Per a recent league injury report, the Lakers are grappling with the familiar maladies they've been saddled with for the past several weeks.
The 38-year-old James will sit for the 12th consecutive game due to an injured right foot tendon. He is set to have the foot reassessed this week, though in recent days it's been floated that he could miss the rest of the team's regular season (10 more contests).
New LA addition Mo Bamba, ostensibly a floor-spacing, rim-protecting reserve center behind Anthony Davis, has barely played since arriving to LA, and seems even less likely than James to make a return in-season. He's out again tonight with a high left ankle sprain.
As usual, the Lakers are letting two-way players Scotty Pippen Jr. and Cole Swider get more extended reps with their NBAGL affiliate, the South Bay Lakers.
On the Suns side of the equation, beyond the absences of Durant and Ayton (who, to be fair, chip in a combined 44.8 points and 17.4 rebounds a night), Phoenix will have everyone else available.
