Lakers News: Check Out LeBron James' Fresh State-Of-The-Art Akron Community Space
19-time Los Angeles Lakers All-Star small forward LeBron James just opened his House Thirty Three community center in his hometown of Akron, Ohio last Thursday via his LeBron James Family Foundation, per Tawney Beans of The Akron Beacon Journal.
James' team converted the former Tangier entertainment complex into a center containing retail, dining and special events. One highlight of the new space is the first-ever Starbucks Community Store.
In a separate piece, Craig Webb of The Akron Beacon Journal reveals that I Promise school students and their families will populate the new Starbucks, as well as the other businesses.
James' mother Gloria and his former championship-winning high school teammate (now working for the LeBron James Family Foundation), Willie McGee, were among the earliest visitors to the fresh locale upon its opening.
"I'm really proud of this venture, especially because it opens the doors to so many opportunities for our community — job training, employment, [Chase] bank being here and helping our community with their banking needs," Gloria James said. "Then a huge ball area where lifelong memories can be made like weddings and receptions and birthday parties, bar mitzvahs and all that goes with that."
This new location represents the latest cool way James, always a man of action, is giving back to his hometown community.
