Lakers News: Cole Swider Notches Several Career Highs In South Bay Victory
After a short stint with your Los Angeles Lakers, two-way rookie LA power forward Cole Swider is back with the South Back Lakers and has been making noise in the G League.
On Saturday night, the South Bay Lakers went up against the Iowa Wolves. With the help of Swider, the Lakers defeated their opponents in a high scoring battle 148-126. Swider led the pack in more areas than one, with a career high in both points and rebounds. The 6’9’’ power forward notched 37 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and also drained 8 three-pointers.
South Bay’s offense was clearly driven by Swider. The 23-year-old is making his presence felt in the G-League after playing some time on the Lakers. Earlier in the the season, Swider was averaging just 1.5 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 0.7 assists with the Lakers.
In February, the Laker assigned Swider back to the G League, where he has been given more opportunities to develop his game. With more playing time, he is showing off his ability to knock down shots from beyond the arc and make plays for his teammates.
With South Bay, Swider has the ability to lead his team in a way that he would not be able to in the NBA. On the Lakers, Swider would be left in the shadows of a some of the league's best players including LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
As he continues to ball out in the G-League, his performance will prove just how much potential he holds.
