Lakers News: D'Angelo Russell Wants LA To Finish Grizzlies Series Tonight
Tonight, your Los Angeles Lakers will desperately strive to close out the Memphis Grizzlies as their best-of-seven playoff series returns to Crypto.com Arena for Game 6. As the Lakers lead 3-2, an LA win would end the series, while a Memphis victory would extend it, sending the two teams back to FedEx Forum for a decisive Game 7.
Lakers starting point guard D'Angelo Russell, who's had an inconsistent series for LA, spoke with Spectrum SportsNet after a 116-99 Los Angeles loss on Wednesday, noting that he would like his team to take care of business tonight.
"Tough," Russell remarked. "I felt like in the third, they really got some momentum [they went on a 19-2 run, so.. yeah], but you've got to look back on it, honestly, to pinpoint it on [any] one thing specifically. Obviously they had the energy, home court, [were on the brink of] elimination. All that plays into [it] as well. To not match that, and come out and compete, it's not easy to win here. So [we've got to] make things right."
On Wednesday, Russell finished with an 11-point, 10-assist double double, but he also extended his 16-game playoff streak of not connecting on 50% of his field goals in going 4-of-11 from the floor (2-of-5 from deep).
"Just protect home, simple as that," Russell said. "Get it done. I think that should be the motive, that should be the energy, that should be where our minds are. Just get it done."
