Denver Fans Start Insane Chant While Beating Lakers on Opening Night
The opening game of the NBA season came as a very frustrating night for the Los Angeles Lakers. Not only did they lose the game 119-107, but they were playing catch-up all night long.
LA held a brief lead early in the game, but Denver ran away with the game after that. The Lakers got close in the fourth quarter, but every time LA knocked on the doorstep, the Nuggets hit a timely shot.
Toward the end of the game, the Nuggets faithful decided to give the Lakers some trash talk. With the clock winding down, the fans started chanting "Who's Your Daddy?".
It's an ode to the Nuggets championship parade when the Nuggets broadcaster introduced Denver coach Michael Malone and said that he is the Lakers' daddy. Denver fans seemed to enjoy the moment, and it was well deserved.
The Nuggets looked very much like the team that the Lakers saw just a few months ago, and the Lakers couldn't handle it. But it's early, and LA is still working to get their rotations in check.
The biggest issue in this game was the play from star Anthony Davis in the second half. After a dominant first half, Davis shrunk in the third and fourth quarters, scoring zero points.
This isn't what the Lakers need from Davis moving forward and it seems to be becoming a common theme. LA will need Davis to be more aggressive throughout the entire game if they have any hope of winning a title this season.
Denver deserved this win, and the Lakers can expect to hear trash talk like this all season unless they do something about it. After massive hype for LA, it was a tough way to start the season. But the beauty is that the season just started, and they get another chance to get their first win in their home opener this Thursday against the Phoenix Suns.
