Lakers News: Draymond Green Departs LA-Golden State Bout With Wrist Injury

LA is running away with it right now.

Golden State Warriors power forward Draymond Green, the anchor of his team's defense and a potential unrestricted free agent this summer (he has a player option for his 2023-24 salary), departed today's action after suffering an injury to his left hand, per Kendra Andrews of ESPN.

Green's hand was being examined on the team bench before ultimately departing the court to undergoing an X-ray for one of his fingers, Lisa Salters of ABC reported on the game's broadcast today (h/t to Kendra Andrews).

The Warriors are really feeling Green's absence right now, having let Los Angeles run off to a 33-18 edge at the conclusion of the first quarter.

Across 9:55 of action, starting Lakers center Anthony Davis alone has scored almost as much as the entire Golden State team to this point. The 6'10" big man has poured in 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor and 5-of-7 shooting from the free-throw line. He's also notched three rebounds, an assist and a block. All five Lakers starters have scored in the early going.

Meanwhile, in Stephen Curry's first appearance in 12 games, only one starting Warrior has scored even a single point thus far. And it's not Stephen Curry. Starting shooting guard Klay Thompson has logged a quick nine points on 3-of-6 shooting from the field and 2-of-2 shooting from the foul line. Off the Dubs' bench, only small forward Jonathan Kuminga (five points), power forward JaMychal Green (three points) and combo guard Jordan Poole (one point) are even on the board.
