Lakers News: Dwyane Wade Supported By Future LA Hall Of Famer At HOF Induction
Longtime Miami Heat All-NBA shooting guard Dwyane Wade, a 13-time All-Star and three-time NBA champion, joined former Los Angeles Lakers power forward/center Pau Gasol, ex-San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker, and retired Dallas Mavericks power forward Dirk Nowitzki in making up one of the most decorated Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame classes ever. That's 10 NBA titles between four players!
Five-time champion Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich and six-time WNBA All-Star point guard (and Spurs assistant coach) Becky Hammon also contributed to the weekend's star power.
Joining Wade in Springfield this weekend were Golden State Warriors point guard Chris Paul and former Los Angeles Lakers power forward Carmelo Anthony, both of whom seem destined for their own enshrinements soon enough.
Showtime's Rachel Nichols shared footage of the trio posing for photographs at the red carpet prior to Wade's induction ceremony Saturday night.
Anthony, like Wade and Lakers great LeBron James, was a member of the now-legendary 2003 NBA draft class, which also included Wade and James' Miami Heat teammate Chris Bosh, another Hall of Famer. Anthony played the final year of his illustrious 19-game NBA career as a fan favorite reserve in an otherwise-dismal 2021-22 Lakers season.
Across 69 contests that year, the 10-time All-Star averaged 13.3 points on .441/.375/.830 shooting splits, 4.2 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.8 blocks and 0.7 steals pr contest.
