Lakers News: ESPN Analyst Breaks Down Kobe Bryant’s History of NBA 2K Covers
In 1999, 2K Games debuted their first NBA video game, the original "NBA 2K." The first person to grace the game's cover was none other than the Philadelphia 76ers point guard Allen Iverson.
Today, 2K24 is set to release in the fall and there's no one better to be on this year's cover than Hall of Fame Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Kobe Bryant.
The 18-time All-Star, five-time NBA Finals champion and 2008 MVP, adds another 2K cover among his accolades, his fourth overall.
The Black Mamba's first game cover honor came in "NBA 2K10," right after he won his fifth NBA Championship and NBA finals MVP.
He would then go on to grace the 2K cover two more times - "NBA 2K17" honored the year of his retirement, and "NBA 2K21" honored the year of his death.
2K24 is set to release two different versions of the game - the standard "Kobe Bryant" Edition, and the deluxe "Black Mamba" Edition.
Kobe Bryant's career and life continues to make an impact in the basketball world after his tragic passing when his helicopter crashed in the hills of Calabasas, California.
NBA2K is a world-renowned video game played by the entire world, and I'm pretty sure all of us here at All Lakers.com have played at least several editions of 2K throughout our lives.
This honor makes Kobe the only NBA player with four NBA2K covers, the most in the video game's history.
Will you be getting a copy of this year's edition of NBA 2K?
