Lakers News: ESPN Pundit Convinced New-Look LA Will Make Playoffs
Two games into the most crucial stretch of the Lakers season, and the Lakers have two wins. So far, things are looking good for the purple and gold, minus the LeBron James injury he suffered in the third quarter in yesterday’s matchup.
Besides that, the Lakers look like a real team; I might even go so far as to say they are a threat to the title. I could say if healthy; they can make it to the Western Conference Finals, at minimum. We’ll see how things go in the remaining 21 games.
However, ESPN radio-talking head Keyshawn Johnson believes LA could not only make the playoffs but play spoiler in the playoffs.
“If the Lakers can make it to the play-in and into the playoffs, they are going to hurt somebody’s feelings. They really are, because this team as is constructed now and if everybody is healthy might be the better team that LeBron has ever had since he’s been in LA. This team might be a better constructed roster of a team right now.”
There is a recipe for championship teams that LeBron has been a part of, and two of those things are three-point shooting and defenders. You have that with this current team, now, it might be a little late for that, but if LA can continue to trend upward, then you can’t count them out.
The Lakers have good enough shooting, and players who can defend at a high level. Health will always play a factor in the Lakers sense, which remains the most significant question mark right now.
The Lakers are currently the 12th seed, three games under .500, and only one game from the last spot in the play-in tournament.
