Lakers News: Even "Saturday Night Live" Gets In On Predicting LA's Postseason Chances

The Emmy Award-winning show provides its thoughts on LA's playoff odds.
In this story:

The Los Angeles Lakers are in the midst of battling for a playoff spot. The purple and gold are scratching and clawing for at least a spot in the play-in tournament, and they are heading in the right direction at the moment.

LA is at the top of the sports world because they are a luxurious franchise, and it helps when you have the greatest player ever to play basketball, LeBron James.

Because of this, NBC’s longest-running show, "Saturday Night Live," decided to get in on some NBA talk during their segment “Weekend Update” and brought in a parody version of Hall of Fame center-turned-wacky NBA analyst Bill Walton to discuss the Lakers chances of making the playoffs. Here is how it went.

Walton is an abnormal individual who sometimes says some weird things. The actor playing Walton, James Autin Johnson, did a great job imitating the Hall of Famer from the voice to the off-kilter phrases to the hand gestures.

But in all seriousness, the Lakers look good and feel like a real team compared to what they had on the court a month ago.

The Lakers are looking to finish the season strong and must do so if they want any chance at making the postseason. At 28-32, they’re currently the 13th seed in the Western Conference, but they’ll have the opportunity to play and beat a handful of the opponents in front of them. to make up ground in a hurry.

If the Purple and Gold can stay healthy, they will be a force to be reckoned with come postseason time if they’re fortunate enough to make it.
