The Los Angeles Lakers are currently out of the play-in picture. The purple and gold are coming off a tough loss on Friday and an uncalled loss on Wednesday to the last-place Houston Rockets.

LA needs every game they can get, and they didn't help themselves out in that case. The Lakers were coming off a much-needed win against the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday, the team was clicking, and Anthony Davis led the way with 35 points and 17 rebounds.

Once again, the Lakers had the chance to go .500 for the first time this season. Instead, LA decided to rest Davis, and LA botched another opportunity to climb up in the standings and help themselves out.

With or without Davis, the loss to the Rockets was unacceptable. LA started the game flat and made a comeback, but it wasn't enough. It hurt losing that one, and FS1 analyst and LeBron James stan, Nick Wright, went on his podcast "What's Wright with Nick Wright" and crushed the Lakers for sitting Anthony Davis in a must-win situation. Wright suggested that they do this with Davis instead.

"The best thing you could give AD is a week off before the playoffs. Which if you're not in the play-in he gets. But, if you are in the play-in he has to instantly play high-intensity, do-or-die games.  So, it's just a bad loss they didn't have to have."

Wright is 100% correct. The Lakers have no room for error and if AD is healthy enough to play then he must play. There is no tomorrow if the Lakers don't win and it seems like LA isn't going by that approach.

The Lakers have 10 games remaining and AD must play in all if he is able to. So much is at stake for LA, one game could make all the difference and by the looks of it that's all it'll take.

The Lakers must step up to the plate if they want any chance at making the play-in tournament. We'll see how they respond in the coming weeks.
