We're in August. The NBA Draft is long over and so is Summer League, but that doesn't mean that basketball is far away.

The NBA regular season starts in October, and some of the year's key matchups have started to come out with the season just about two months away.

The league's Christmas slate was revealed, a rematch years in the making was unveiled, and it was also reported when the first Lakers vs. Clippers game of the year would be happening.

And it's not that far away.

The first game between the two division rivals and teams that make Crypto.com Arena home will be on November 1, and although it'll be an intriguing game -- as most of them have been over the last few years -- it will be a game between two franchises that are definitely going in different directions.

The Lakers come into the 2023-2024 season looking to build upon their unexpected success of last year -- a year that ended in them advancing to the Western Conference Finals after being as low as 13th in the Western Conference standings that season.

With LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, and D'Angelo Russell all returning to the fold on the back of a great playoff run, the Lakers are widely expected to be contenders in the West -- and they certainly won't be under the radar this time around.

The Clippers, meanwhile, are aiming to rebound after finishing fifth in the Western Conference, only to get eliminated in the first round of the playoffs in five games by the Phoenix Suns.

Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are still in tow for the Clippers, but their health will be a big factor as to whether or not the team can contend this year.

All in all, this game should be an intriguing one, and if Leonard and George are on the floor for this matchup, it should definitely be a fun early season litmus test for both sides.
