A new step for the longtime journeyman.

Former Los Angeles Lakers power forward center Ed Davis has joined a new club, and it might mean the end of his 12-year career as an NBA journeyman reserve.

Dario Skerletic of Sportando reports that the 6'9" big man out of the University of North Carolina is joining Puerto Rican pro club Mets de Guaynabo, after not drawing interest as a free agent thus far in the 2022-23 NBA season.

Initially selected with the 13th pick by the Toronto Raptors in 2010-11, Davis was a Laker for a single season, 2014-15. Playing alongside legendary LA shooting guard Kobe Bryant (well, in the 35 games Bryant was healthy, at least), Davis appeared in 79 contests for Los Angeles, including 24 starts.

Davis posted averages of 8.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.2 dimes and 1.2 blocks while mostly jumping at the four spot behind starter Carlos Boozer, reunited with his 2008 Redeem Team colleague in Bryant.

As coached by former Showtime era shooting guard Byron Scott, the club stumbled to a paltry 21-61 season finish, which put them in a position to draft No. 2 pick D'Angelo Russell. D-Lo is returning to LA via trade, and could be back in the purple and gold as soon as tomorrow.
