Lakers News: Former LA Sixth Man Retires From NBA After 17 Seasons

A longtime fan favorite is calling it a career.
In this story:

17-year NBA vet Lou Williams, a three-time Sixth Man of the Year while with the Los Angeles Clippers and Atlanta Hawks, has officially announced his retirement in a new YouTube video.

Williams' daughter, Jada, narrated the video, cut to footage of her penning the farewell narrative and a montage of his lengthy pro career.

"For 17 years, you moved to your own rhythm in this game. And the time is now, that you've chosen to announce your farewell. But still fulfilling your legacy within us. You gave it all that you could give. You left nothing more to unturn. And I'm truly proud of you, Dad," Williams' daughter Jada said in the video.

He spent just parts of two seasons as a Laker. He first joined the club for Kobe Bryant's final season, in 2015-16, and was flipped to the Houston Rockets in the spring of 2017. Only one player from that 2016-17 LA roster is still on the club (for now): starting point guard D'Angelo Russell, for whom the Lakers traded this past February. D-Lo is an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Across 1,123 regular season games, Lou Will holds career averages of 13.9 points on .419/.351/.842 shooting splits, 3.4 assists, and 2.2 rebounds a night.
